Investment Management
Investment → Asset Allocation, Risk and Reward
At Q2 we boil down a complex decision to an investment policy which is your risk tolerance, objective, and horizon.
Each part of the policy customizes a portfolio to meet your needs and goals. A risk tolerance defines whether your portfolio is conservative, moderate, or aggressive. Objectives further refine the portfolio, examples are growth, income, or preservation. Finally a portfolio requires a horizon, which is the time when all of the funds are consumed or a major change may occur.
After your portfolio is customized we manage discretionary portfolios at the firm level meaning the same level of care is provided to a small account you'd expect a large account would receive. Also, since Q2 is a fiduciary firm, “when you do better, we do better”, which simply means when your money grows, our earnings grow, aligning our interests.
An important difference of Q2 is its independence, meaning we’re not tied to a "big firm or wire house” that restricts what we can offer. We are able to select our own investment universe to meet our clients goals creating low-cost high-quality portfolios. Also, our technology and trading systems rival larger Firms allowing us to compete at a high level.
